Melvin Emerson Archbold Robinson
Melvin is currently employed as a Consultant/Technical Support to the Institute for Biodiversity and Environmental Research of the Bluefields Indian & Caribbean University (BICU). His responsibilities include the conduct of a comprehensive study for the Market and Value Chain Analysis of Recyclable products in three municipalities on the Nicaraguan Caribbean Coast.
Melvin’s other work experiences involved giving support to the Tourism Chamber of Bluefields in strengthening its organizational structure, sales and marketing as a shareholder of the tour operator ATLANTIC TOURA. SA, coordinating and giving support to UNIDO-FAO for the development of rapid diagnosis for the assessment of the Production Capacity and Development of the Value Chain for Coconut industry on the Nicaraguan Southern Caribbean Coast and joint Implementation with UNEP-UNIDO and the Regional Government (GRAAS), of the "Project for the development of sustainable actions for mangroves and coastal zone management in the municipality of Pearl Lagoon.
He has always had an interest in the management and conservation of natural resources and some projects that he has worked with concern the conservation of hawksbill turtles in the Pearl Cays, Nicaragua and sea turtles in general and coral reefs.
Melvin does volunteer work permanently with Garifuna Afro-Nicaraguan Association (AAGANIC) in the process of revitalization and strengthening of the Garifuna culture in Nicaragua.
