Algernon Lesroy Grant
Algernon is an aspiring young man born in the wonderful island of Antigua and happily married to his gorgeous wife. Currently, he functions as a forestry officer at the Forestry Department having obtained a diploma in Forestry at the University of Guyana.
His responsibilities are to monitor and enhance the flora throughout the nation of Antigua &Barbuda. He is required to produce work programs with the government's vision of a tourism oriented economy and is also actively involved in the roadside beautification activities in enhancing the urban forest in the nation.
Algernon was fortunate to have also received training in the formation and implementing of mitigation and adaptation strategies in response to the changing climate, at Seoul National University (SNU) in conjunction with Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). He has now accrued 11 years work experience in conservation and tree management with 5 years in vegetable production, particularly in food security.
His aim is to see the reduction of forest wildfires, which impact on Antigua's &Barbuda's ecosystems and communities livelihoods.
