Janeczka Richardson
Janeczka Richardson is currently the Marine and Coastal Conservation Officer at the Anguilla National Trust (ANT). From an early age she has always been intrigued by the natural environment. While a student at the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School in 2007, she interned at the Department of Fisheries and Marine Resources where her interest in marine biology was piqued.
Upon graduating with an Associate degree in Environmental Science, Janeczka joined the ANT as a volunteer and intern, leading the development of the organisation’s Anguilla Sea Turtle Conservation Group and its sea turtle conservation programme. Since becoming a full-time member of the ANT’s staff, she has led on both coastal and sea turtle conservation projects and assisted with the restoration of Dog Island (the largest island in the Caribbean on which rats have been eradicated) as well as wetland and seabird species and habitat conservation initiatives and environmental education programmes. She recently completed the University of the West Indies' inaugural climate change certification programme in 2014. In addition to her commitment to nature conservation, she enjoys singing, reading, and arts and craft.
Janeczka is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Conservation Leadership in the Caribbean Programme and lookis forward to working with all the participants, with the intention to gain knowledge and skills through exposure to regional and international conservation scenarios in order to better deal with conservation issues in Anguilla.
