Deonne Smith
From hiking to photography, Deonne Smith enjoys being connected to the outdoors. She attributes her love for nature to her earliest interactions with her home country, Jamaica. This has led her to an active participation in clubs, campaigns and projects with positive environmental impacts.
Now a trained Media and Communications specialist, Deonne serves as a United Nations Volunteer with the UN Environment team in Jamaica, as a Communications and Partnerships Officer.
She is excited about designing and developing communication campaigns that engender behaviour change and positively impacts the world around her.
She believes education, communication and awareness-raising is the key to conservation. With that in mind, she hopes that her participation in the Conservation Leadership in the Caribbean fellowship programme will assist her to develop education and communication strategies and programmes that will make a difference in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
