Cathlene Trumpet
Cathlene Trumpet is a young professional with twelve (12) years’ experience working at the Forestry Department, Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines as a Forestry Officer. She has worked in different areas of the Department, including the Forest Mapping and Inventory Unit for eight (8) years collecting field data, mapped plantations using the GPS and a little map making, the Environmental Education Unit and presently manages the North Leeward Range.
Her immediate past responsibility was the head of the Environmental Education Unit for four (4) years. During this time, Cathlene has worked with various schools, colleges and communities in imparting educational information on techniques and skill on positive conservation practices. She also assisted with the execution of all educational and training activities within the Department. She was also part of the Union Island GECKO ( Gonatodes daudinni) Initiative Conservation Project which aimed at reviewing the status, threats and requirements of the Union Island GECKO toward developing a strategic plan for its protection and conservation in the wild.
As of March this year, Cathlene has taken up duties to manage a range on the Northern side of the island to coordinate technical activities at a field level and to promote problem solving, participatory and multi-stakeholder approaches through extension.
Cathlene over the years would have benefited from several trainings at local, regional and international levels geared towards strengthening her capacity as a Forestry Officer in different aspects of forestry.
Cathlene is a graduate from the University of Trinidad and Tobago with a diploma in General Forestry. She has a Diploma from the Centre For International Postgraduate Studies in Environmental Management in Germany. She also has a Certificate from the City and Guilds of London Institute in Tropical Agriculture, Animal Husbandry. At present, she is awaiting Certification from an online course in Management and Leadership from the Open University in the UK.
